Oh Sweet Josephine Louise… You were so wanted long before you were born. Your mother prayed and wish for a perfect little baby just like you. I think she hit the baby jackpot. I’m so glad I was able to come down and be with you in your first days on this earth.

Sonya and I have been friends for.ever. Love her to death. I know how much she wanted this sweet little girl, and I was overjoyed when she asked if I’d fly down to Sarasota to take some lifestyle newborn photos. I went down for 2 short nights. Sonya’s little house was nothing short of spectacular and she is quite the Martha Stewart. So accommodating. I was a little nervous I wouldn’t be sleeping because I was staying with her and in Josie’s room, but get this. Josie slept through the night BOTH nights while I was there and apparently from what I hear is still a pretty good sleeper to this day. One thing she loved to do (and you’ll see in most of the photos) she loved to nurse. and nurse and nurse and nurse some more. Sonya has to be the most patient soul on this earth. Josie would be loosing it and most mamas would get super stressed. not her, just calm, cool, and collected.

I didn’t get in until late that first night so we all just crashed. The next morning, Sonya had a nice little buffet of breakfast for me. (again love her). I took some lifestyle photos as we ate and then while she was getting ready I started off with sweet Josie in her crib. She was awake but calm. We did a lot of her pictures in her room. How perfect is her nursery? I love the european flavor meet boho meet surfer meet bob marley look. And I love that we did a set of family photos in there. Later that day we went out to the beach for sunset and more family pictures. Sonya’s mom was in town and her sister lives there so they came to join in on the fun too. Sweet Josie fell asleep really good in my bowl that I brought her but after I got that shot, she just wanted to nurse the rest of the time so, nursing shots are we got. LOL! I seriously love the outdoor portion of this session.

We headed home and Jake cooked us an AMAZING dinner. The next morning, we didn’t have much time. We knew we wanted one more outdoor shot. We decided to go to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens to find a shady, floral spot. Problem was, it was like 12 noon and bright sun. AND Josie only wanted to nurse. She would scream bloody murder if not. We walked around and finally found a spot suitable. (I was impressed Sonya can already nurse and walk. Talk about multi-taksing). I had the bowl, stuffer, perfect spot… now just needed baby. Well Josie was like “uh, no” and just wanted to nurse. We got her off but she HATED the bowl so I had to quickly improvise and create a little palette on the ground with the two small blankets. I was able to snap 3 frames of her before she started to stir and wake up. Talk about in the nick of time. We conviced an employee to let us out the side gate and booked it to the car. I made it the airport 30 minutes before my flight took off. What a trip!!!
